In these lectures, I will provide an introduction to modeling both network formation and how network structure affects individual behavior. I will begin by presenting some basic concepts for network analysis and background on social and economic networks. I will then focus in on game theoretic approaches to modeling network formation and peer effects in network contexts, as well as applications to trading and exchange networks. I will also cover some other interactive models, including both Bayesian and non-Bayesian models of learning among individuals in a network. I will draw material from a new graduate text and research reference: "Social and Economic Network," by Matthew O. Jackson, Princeton University Press 2008.
