The School of Social Welfare was established in March 2001, based on the founding spirit of Yonsei University. The main purpose of the school is to provide systematic training and specialized study for advanced social work practice. A academic tradition of critical inquiry along with an emphasis on the use of tested knowledge and theory in developing intervention methods characterizes professional social welfare education at Yonsei University.
As its education programs, the school offers a full-time, two-year professional masters program leading to Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) degree, a minimum three-year doctoral program (Ph.D.), and a year research program. All the programs are designed to develop the most up-to-date knowledge of social welfare through practical research and field education.
