The BISR team is led by Dr. Sooyoung Kim who is a professor of the Department of Interior Architecture & Built Environment, Yonsei University. Professor Kim earned his Ph.D. degree in architecture at The University of Michigan. He also holds three Master degrees in architectural engineering and architecture. Before professor Kim joined Yonsei University, he worked as an assistant professor at the department of architectural engineering, The University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
The principal theme of his research is to explore how visual environment, lighting and building environmental factors apply to architecture. Under this theme, professor Kim have performed research on building illumination systems, lighting control & design, daylight and human responses to light, and energy savings in buildings.
